Muurhuizen (Wallhouses)
In the early days it was assumed that these houses formed the actual city defence, but this has been proven incorrect. Except for some minor details, nothing of the city wall was remained; almost all must have been demolished in the 15th century after its original function was lost. The precious bricks that thus became available were used to build some of the houses in this street that followed the old course of the wall.
